Delhi-Agra Expressway Crash Leaves Four Dead

At least four people were killed and several others injured after a major accident involving multiple buses and cars on the Delhi-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on the Agra-bound carriageway of the expressway, triggering panic among passengers and motorists.

According to police officials, the accident began when a few cars collided with each other, leading to a chain reaction involving several buses. The impact caused multiple buses to catch fire, with flames quickly spreading and trapping passengers inside some of the vehicles.

Fire Breaks Out, Emergency Response Rushed

Fire tenders, ambulances, and police teams were rushed to the spot soon after the accident was reported. Firefighters worked for several hours to control the blaze and rescue passengers. Officials said that several injured persons were pulled out from the damaged vehicles and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Around 20 to 25 people sustained injuries, many of whom are reported to be in stable condition. Authorities confirmed that four bodies were recovered from the site, while rescue and clearance operations continued for several hours.

Fog Suspected as Contributing Factor

Preliminary information suggests that dense fog and low visibility during the early morning hours may have contributed to the accident. Police have not ruled out overspeeding and are examining CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to determine the exact sequence of events.

Traffic on the Delhi-Agra Expressway was temporarily disrupted following the crash, with vehicles diverted until the damaged buses and cars were removed.

Investigation Underway

Officials said a detailed investigation has been launched to establish responsibility and assess whether safety norms were violated. Authorities have also urged drivers to exercise caution while travelling in foggy conditions, especially during night and early morning hours.
