Congress Releases Second List of 23 Candidates for Maharashtra Assembly Elections

In preparation for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, the Congress party has released its second list of candidates, featuring nominees for 23 constituencies.

This announcement comes just days after the party’s first list of 48 candidates and the seat-sharing agreement within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition.

The second list includes Dr. Rajesh Tukaram Manvatkar for Bhusawal, Swati Sandeep Wakekar for Jalgaon, and Mahesh Gangane for Akot, among others. Anuja Kedar, wife of disqualified MLA Sunil Kedar, has been fielded from Savner, replacing her husband who was recently convicted in a corruption case. Senior leader Girish Pandey has been nominated for Nagpur South, while Hemant Ogale replaces Lahu Kanade in Shrirampur.

Seat-Sharing Agreement Among MVA Partners

The MVA coalition, which includes Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena (UBT), has agreed to contest 85 seats each out of the 255 constituencies. Smaller parties like the Samajwadi Party, Peasants and Workers Party (PWP), and Communist Party of India (CPI) will also receive some seats as part of the alliance’s strategy for the November 20 elections.

With these announcements, Congress is gearing up for a critical election in Maharashtra, aiming to strengthen its position within the MVA coalition and regain influence in the state’s political landscape.
