Chandan Mishra Shot Dead in Hospital ICU
In a daring daylight attack, five armed assailants shot and killed murder convict Chandan Mishra inside Paras HMRI Hospital in Patna on Thursday morning. The shocking incident, caught on CCTV, shows the attackers fleeing the hospital calmly and without resistance.
30-Second Attack Raises Security Concerns
The entire act was executed in under 30 seconds. CCTV footage shows the shooters entering the hospital, walking directly to Mishra’s second-floor room, and opening fire. After confirming the target was dead, they exited through the corridor—some even without masks or urgency—highlighting the ease with which they bypassed hospital security.
Authorities believe the attack was carefully planned, possibly following a prior recce. Investigators are now reviewing hours of CCTV footage to map the movement of the suspects before and after the shooting.
Mishra’s Criminal Past and Parole

He had over 20 criminal cases against him and was recently granted parole to undergo liver surgery. He had been recovering in the hospital for the past few days when the attack occurred.
Police Response and Arrests
Patna Police have identified six suspects and detained several individuals in connection with the crime. Top officers have confirmed that gang rivalry is being probed as a motive. Investigators are also looking into whether any hospital staff aided the attackers.
Inspector General Jitendra Rana said more arrests are likely soon. Forensic teams are examining the scene for clues, including bullet casings and fingerprints.
Political Reactions Pour In
The incident has triggered strong reactions from political leaders. RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav questioned the law and order situation in Bihar, saying, “Is anyone safe anymore?” Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha assured that strict action will be taken and promised a review of security arrangements in hospitals across the state.
