Centre Reshuffles Secretaries Across Ministries
The Centre has announced a major bureaucratic reshuffle involving 13 secretary-level appointments across ministries and departments, including changes in both wings of the Union Education Ministry.
Vineet Joshi Moved From Higher Education
Vineet Joshi, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Manipur cadre, has been transferred from the Department of Higher Education and appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
Naresh Pal Gangwar will replace Joshi as Higher Education Secretary. Gangwar, a 1994-batch Rajasthan cadre officer, was serving as Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
The transfer comes amid protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. However, the government order did not provide a reason for the change or connect it with the ongoing controversy.
Education Ministry Gets New Secretaries
T K Anil Kumar, a 1996-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, has been appointed Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy. He was previously serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development.
The appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. They change the leadership of both the Higher Education Department and the School Education and Literacy Department.
Centre Announces Wider Bureaucratic Reshuffle
Katikithala Srinivas has been moved from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. Piyush Goyal has been appointed Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Commission, while Keshav Chandra will take charge as Mines Secretary.
Sushil Kumar Lohani has been appointed Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying before assuming charge as Secretary.
The government also approved secretary-level pay upgrades for four serving officers, including the Registrar General of India and the National Highways Authority of India chairman.
