Canada Spy Report Flags Khalistan Threat

Canada Spy Report Flags Khalistan Threat

Canada’s intelligence agency has flagged Khalistani extremism as a national security concern while also naming India in foreign interference-related claims. The report has brought renewed attention to the security and diplomatic tensions that continue to affect India-Canada relations.

Canada Flags Khalistani Extremism Threat

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service report says a small group of Khalistani extremists continues to use Canada as a base for promoting, fundraising or planning violence, mainly directed at India.

The report indicates that these extremist elements remain well-connected and may be diverting community resources to support their activities. This marks a significant acknowledgement by Canadian intelligence that Khalistan-linked extremism is not only India’s concern but also a domestic security issue for Canada.

India Named In Foreign Interference Claims

The same report also names India in connection with alleged foreign interference activity in Canada. It refers to concerns over transnational repression and claims that India has tried to counter threats emerging from Canadian soil.

India has previously rejected such allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. New Delhi has repeatedly maintained that Canada must act against extremist networks operating from its territory instead of allowing anti-India activity to grow under political protection.

India Canada Relations Face Fresh Strain

The findings come at a sensitive time for India-Canada ties, which have remained strained over Khalistan-related violence, diplomatic expulsions and allegations linked to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The report creates a complex situation for Ottawa. While Canada has again raised concerns about India’s alleged interference, its own intelligence agency has also acknowledged the continuing threat posed by Khalistani extremist elements operating from Canadian soil.
