Call for India to Act on Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh
A senior academic has urged the Indian government to take a firm stand on reports of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, citing recent killings and attacks on members of the minority community. The appeal was made during a public interaction in Mangaluru, where concerns were raised over the safety and security of religious minorities in the neighbouring country.
Diplomatic Action Urged
The professor said India should use its diplomatic channels to press Bangladesh to ensure protection for Hindu minorities and to hold perpetrators accountable. She argued that repeated incidents of violence, if left unaddressed, risk normalising attacks against vulnerable communities and undermining regional stability.
Minority Safety Concerns
Reports of targeted attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh have triggered concern among civil society groups and members of the diaspora. Rights advocates say the pattern of incidents highlights the need for stronger law enforcement and visible action to reassure minorities.
The issue has also sparked calls for India to raise the matter at international forums, stressing that minority rights and religious freedom remain central to peace and democratic values in South Asia.
