Cabinet Clears ₹25,060 Crore Export Promotion Mission
The Union Cabinet has approved a six-year Export Promotion Mission (EPM) with a total outlay of ₹25,060 crore aimed at boosting India’s export capabilities. The mission will focus on MSMEs, first-time exporters and labour-intensive industries, including textiles, leather, and handicrafts. The initiative is designed to improve India’s global trade competitiveness through financial and non-financial support measures.
Credit Guarantee Scheme Announced
Alongside the EPM, the government has launched a new Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters (CGSE), providing 100 percent guarantee cover for up to ₹20,000 crore in additional, collateral-free credit. This will be implemented through the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC). Banks and lending institutions will be able to extend extra working-capital support to exporters without requiring collateral.
Mission Structure And Implementation
The EPM will operate through two sub-schemes—Niryat Protsahan, covering trade-finance and credit-linked support, and Niryat Disha, covering branding, logistics, trade facilitation and market-access interventions. The government says the mission will support the national goal of achieving USD 1 trillion in exports, helping exporters diversify into new markets and upgrade product value chains.
