Baruipur Accused Killed In Encounter

A key accused in the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in West Bengal’s Baruipur was killed in a police encounter during crime scene reconstruction, officials said. Police said the investigation into the child’s death and the violence that followed remains underway.

Baruipur Rape-Murder Accused Killed In Encounter

The accused, identified as Pravash Mondal, was taken to the crime scene in the Baruipur suburb of Kolkata around midnight for reconstruction of events.

According to police sources, Mondal allegedly tried to snatch a firearm from police personnel and flee during the process. Police opened fire, and he was later declared dead.

Mondal was among three suspects arrested after the child’s body was recovered from a pond in Baruipur. The two other accused have been identified as Ananda Sardar and Dibakar Sardar.

Bengal Child Murder Case Investigation Continues

The case has triggered widespread outrage in Baruipur and surrounding areas. Police said the child was killed after being assaulted, and investigators are continuing to examine the sequence of events, forensic evidence and witness statements.

Security has been increased in parts of the area after protests turned violent. Police vehicles and railway property were damaged during the unrest, and at least 20 people have been arrested in connection with vandalism.

Baruipur Violence And Mob Justice Probe

Police are also investigating the mob killing of Indrajit Mondal, who was allegedly beaten to death after being wrongly suspected of involvement in the case.

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited Baruipur and directed police to submit a detailed report. He said strict action would be taken against those involved in the crime and those responsible for violence during protests.

The case remains under active investigation, with police expected to examine both the child’s murder and the law-and-order incidents that followed.
