Bangladesh Hopes India Series Deadlock Ends Soon
Bangladesh remains hopeful that the uncertainty surrounding India’s proposed white-ball tour in September will be resolved quickly, with the matter now being discussed at government level. The six-match series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is remains uncertain amid political tensions between the neighbouring countries.
Bangladesh Seeks Resolution on India Series
Bangladesh State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque said discussions were underway at the ministerial level to resolve the deadlock surrounding India’s tour.
He said he had spoken with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister and indicated that diplomatic communication was also taking place with the Indian side.
Bangladesh wants sporting relations with India to continue despite recent political disagreements and remains hopeful that the proposed cricket series can proceed.
India Tour of Bangladesh Remains Uncertain
India’s white-ball tour was originally scheduled for August 2025 before being postponed to September 2026.
The proposed series consists of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, Bangladesh has yet to receive final confirmation that the Indian team will travel for the tour.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has sought government assistance in addressing the issue and securing the necessary assurances for the series.
Political Tensions Affect Cricket Series
Uncertainty around the tour has increased amid wider tensions in India-Bangladesh relations, including disagreements that emerged around the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh officials have maintained that sporting ties should remain separate from political disputes and have expressed confidence that diplomatic engagement can help resolve the situation.
With September approaching, both cricket boards will require clarity soon to finalise preparations, broadcasting arrangements and logistics for the six-match series.
