Australia Rest Pace Trio For Asian Tour

Australia have named new-look white-ball squads for their upcoming tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh, with Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood left out as selectors manage the workload of their frontline fast bowlers.

Australia Squad For Pakistan ODIs

Mitchell Marsh will captain Australia in the ODI series against Pakistan, which begins on May 30 in Rawalpindi before moving to Lahore for the next two matches on June 2 and June 4.

The squad includes fresh faces, with Oliver Peake and uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott earning opportunities. Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake have also been recalled for the Pakistan leg as Australia look to test depth in sub-continent conditions.

Australia Squad For Bangladesh ODIs And T20Is

Australia will then travel to Bangladesh for three ODIs in Dhaka from June 9 to June 14, followed by three T20Is in Chattogram from June 17 to June 21.

Joel Davies has received his first international call-up for the T20I squad, while Glenn Maxwell has not been included. Travis Head returns for the Bangladesh leg, with Marsh continuing as captain across the white-ball fixtures.

Cummins, Starc And Hazlewood Rested

Selection chair George Bailey said the squads were designed to give new and returning players exposure in different conditions. The absence of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood is linked to workload management ahead of Australia’s busy World Test Championship campaign and the build-up to the next 50-over World Cup.

The selections indicate Australia’s attempt to balance immediate white-ball preparation with long-term planning for major ICC events.
