Annamalai Says We The Leaders Will Become Political Party
Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has announced that his newly launched movement, We The Leaders, will eventually become a political party. He said the organisation would focus on governance, public responsibility and Tamil Nadu’s development while keeping religion outside its political scope.
We The Leaders Political Party Plans
Speaking at a drug-free awareness conference in Pollachi, Annamalai said the movement would transition into a political party at an appropriate time.
He described responsibility as the organisation’s central identity and said its political objective was to help Tamil Nadu become a leading state. However, he did not announce a specific date for formally registering or launching the party.
Annamalai also said We The Leaders was being developed as a collective public platform rather than through conventional membership campaigns. He presented himself as one participant among the movement’s wider network of supporters.
Annamalai Keeps Religion Outside Politics
Annamalai said religion would remain outside the organisation’s scope. He added that while he personally identified as a Hindu, he left his caste and religious identity at home when entering public life.
The statement outlines a political position focused on administration and civic responsibility rather than religious mobilisation. It also marks a notable shift in Annamalai’s political direction after his departure from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Youth Focus Ahead of 2031 Elections
Annamalai said women and young people formed an important part of the movement. According to figures presented at the event, 54% of its participants were below the age of 35.
He predicted that Generation Z voters would play a major role in Tamil Nadu’s 2031 Assembly election. The movement also plans to plant 50 lakh trees over the next six months as part of its public activities.
