Annamalai Alleges Bribes by TVK Ministers
Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai has accused some ministers in the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government of seeking commissions on government tenders, claiming that he possesses audio recordings supporting the allegations. He urged Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to intervene before corruption becomes entrenched in the administration.
Annamalai Alleges Bribes by TVK Ministers
Speaking after an environmental awareness programme organised by his We The Leaders movement in Chennai’s Egmore, Annamalai alleged that certain TVK ministers had begun demanding commissions in connection with government tenders.
He claimed that ministers were seeking commissions ranging between 2% and 4% and said he had audio recordings relating to the alleged demands.
The recordings have not been publicly authenticated, and the allegations remain unproven at this stage.
Annamalai Urges CM Vijay to Act
Annamalai called on Vijay to take immediate action against ministers suspected of corruption and prevent such practices from becoming part of the administration.
His allegations come after Vijay publicly emphasised his government’s commitment to combating corruption and bribery.
Annamalai argued that action against ministers facing credible allegations would be necessary to demonstrate that commitment.
Audio Evidence Claim Remains Unverified
Annamalai did not publicly identify the ministers he accused while making the allegations.
No independent authentication of the alleged audio recordings has emerged so far, and it remains unclear whether the recordings will be released publicly or submitted to investigating authorities.
The allegations could place additional political pressure on the TVK government if further evidence is produced or formal complaints are filed.
