Amit Shah Targets Mamata With Bengal Charge Sheet
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has released a political charge sheet against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election, accusing the ruling party of corruption, infiltration, misgovernance and institutional decline. The move marks a major escalation in the BJP’s campaign as it tries to frame the Bengal election as a contest over both governance and national security.
Amit Shah Releases Charge Sheet Against TMC
Shah unveiled the BJP’s document in Kolkata as a formal attack on the Mamata Banerjee government’s 15-year record in power. The charge sheet accuses the TMC administration of corruption, law and order failures, political violence and administrative collapse. The BJP is using the document as a central campaign tool ahead of releasing its full election manifesto.
BJP Targets Corruption And Infiltration In Bengal
One of Shah’s main lines of attack was infiltration, with the BJP arguing that Bengal has become a major gateway because of what it called appeasement-driven politics. He also accused the TMC of allowing corruption to spread through public institutions and weakening governance across sectors such as health, education and safety. The BJP is trying to connect these issues to voter frustration in both urban and rural areas.
Bengal Election Campaign Turns Sharply Confrontational
The release of the charge sheet has further intensified the political battle between the BJP and TMC. Mamata Banerjee and her party have already pushed back strongly against BJP allegations in recent days, while also accusing the Centre and the Election Commission of bias ahead of the polls. With both sides turning increasingly aggressive, the Bengal election campaign is entering a more direct and combative phase.
