Amit Shah Says Infiltrators To Be Removed in 5 Years

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said illegal infiltrators will be removed not only from electoral rolls but also from the country within the next five years. The statement was made during a public event in Assam, where he linked the issue of illegal immigration to national security, governance and development.

Amit Shah On Infiltrators Removal Plan

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating infrastructure projects in Assam, Shah said the government is committed to ensuring that infiltrators are identified and removed from voter lists. He further stated that the effort would extend to removing such individuals from the country within a defined five-year period.

Shah drew parallels with the government’s campaign against Left-Wing Extremism, asserting that just as decisive action was taken in that area, similar resolve would be applied to tackling illegal infiltration. He did not outline specific legal mechanisms for deportation but reiterated that the process would be conducted within the framework of law.

Assam And Electoral Roll Cleansing

The remarks come amid continued focus on immigration issues in Assam, a state that has historically witnessed movements demanding identification of illegal migrants. Authorities have periodically undertaken drives to update electoral rolls and verify citizenship status in line with constitutional and statutory provisions.

Shah said land freed from alleged encroachments had been used for public infrastructure projects, citing this as an example of strengthened governance.

National Security And Border Management Focus

The Union Home Minister also emphasised border management and internal security as central priorities. He said efforts to secure democratic processes include ensuring that only eligible citizens are included in voter lists.

The announcement aligns with ongoing political debates surrounding illegal immigration, citizenship verification and electoral integrity.
