Air India Cuts International Flights
Air India has announced temporary cuts to several international flights between June and August as rising aviation turbine fuel prices, airspace restrictions and longer flight routes increase pressure on airline operations.
Air India International Flights Suspended
The airline will suspend or reduce services on multiple overseas routes across North America, Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia and neighbouring countries. The move comes as airlines face higher fuel costs and operational challenges linked to restricted airspace in parts of West Asia and Pakistan’s continuing airspace ban on Indian carriers.
The longer routes have increased flying time, fuel burn and crew requirements, forcing Air India to rationalise its international schedule for the summer travel period.
Rising ATF Prices Hit Airline Operations
Higher aviation turbine fuel prices have added to the cost burden for carriers already facing pressure from global instability and airspace closures. International routes are especially vulnerable because longer diversions can sharply raise operating expenses.
Air India said the temporary changes are aimed at optimising resources and maintaining schedule reliability. The airline is expected to continue operating a large number of international flights even after the planned reductions.
Passengers Offered Rebooking And Refunds
Affected passengers will be offered alternatives, including rebooking on other available flights, date changes or full refunds where applicable. Travellers booked on impacted routes have been advised to check their revised flight status before departure.
The airline is expected to restore affected services once fuel costs, airspace conditions and operational pressures improve. The cuts could also affect fares on some routes if overall seat availability tightens during the peak travel period.
