Adani Group to Double Ammunition Production Amid Global Demand
In response to escalating global demand, the Adani Group is set to significantly enhance its ammunition production capabilities. The company currently manufactures 150 million rounds of small arms ammunition each year and aims to double this output to 300 million rounds by the end of the year. This strategic move comes as the company has already secured advance export bookings for the next two years.
Expansion into Artillery Shell Production
Beyond small arms ammunition, the Adani Group is venturing into the production of 155 mm artillery shells. A new large-caliber manufacturing facility is under development, with an initial production target of 150,000 rounds per year. The company has secured export bookings for this ammunition for the next five years, with additional inquiries continually emerging.
Global Conflicts Driving Demand
The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and instability in various regions have led to a heightened demand for artillery shells, as many countries face dwindling reserves and are urgently seeking supplies. Recognizing this surge, the Adani Group is reserving 33% of its production capacity to meet potential domestic requirements, ensuring readiness for any arising national needs.
Commitment to Indigenous Defense Manufacturing
The Adani Group’s substantial investment in ammunition production aligns with India’s broader initiative to bolster indigenous defense manufacturing. By scaling up production and securing long-term export orders, the company is positioning itself as a key player in the global defense supply chain while contributing to national self-reliance in defense capabilities.
This expansion not only addresses the immediate global demand but also reinforces the Adani Group’s commitment to strengthening India’s defense manufacturing sector, ensuring both international presence and domestic preparedness.
