Ranchi Police File Three FIRs After Student Clash
The cases were registered at Kotwali police station in connection with Friday’s confrontation between police personnel and protesting students.
Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said the FIRs name 14 accused while more than 200 others remain unidentified. One of the cases was lodged by police over allegations of obstructing government work and violating prescribed route arrangements during the protest. The other two FIRs were filed by individuals.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the clash and the role of those named in the complaints.
Jharkhand Job Aspirants Protest Recruitment Decisions
The confrontation occurred during demonstrations by students protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in Jharkhand.
Protesters associated with the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch accused the state government of betraying job aspirants following developments surrounding appointments made through the 11th and 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission examinations and the JSSC-CGL recruitment process.
During the protest, some agitators reportedly attempted to burn effigies of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, leading to tensions with police.
Jharkhand High Court Stays Recruitment Cancellations
The protests came amid significant court intervention in recruitment-related decisions by the state government.
The Jharkhand High Court stayed notifications cancelling appointments of Child Development Project Officers and candidates recruited through the JSSC-CGL examination.
A day earlier, the court had also stayed notifications concerning cancellation of the 11th and 13th JPSC examinations and an order cancelling appointments of food safety officers.
The legal proceedings and police investigation into the Ranchi clash are continuing.
