28 Indians Safe After LPG Tanker Attack
All 28 Indian crew members aboard the Mozambique-flagged LPG tanker Disha are safe after the vessel came under attack in Iranian territorial waters near the Strait of Hormuz, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has confirmed.

The tanker, identified by IMO number 8818219, was attacked while travelling towards the Persian Gulf. A maritime workers’ union said the vessel was struck by an unidentified missile near the Strait of Hormuz.
However, the Indian Embassy did not confirm the type of weapon involved, identify who carried out the attack or provide details about the damage sustained by the vessel.
No injuries among the Indian crew members have been reported. Information regarding any other nationalities aboard the tanker was not immediately available.
Indian Embassy Confirms Crew Safety
The Indian Embassy said it had contacted the relevant authorities after learning about the incident and confirmed that all 28 Indian nationals were safe.
Diplomatic officials are continuing to monitor the situation and remain in contact with Iranian authorities. Further details about the tanker’s present location, operational condition and onward movement have not been released.
The incident occurred amid heightened risks to civilian shipping in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters.
Strait of Hormuz Security Concerns
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is one of the world’s most important maritime energy routes. Around one-fifth of global oil and gas supplies traditionally pass through the narrow waterway.
Renewed military exchanges involving Iran and the United States have disrupted commercial shipping and increased risks for merchant vessels.
Indian maritime authorities had recently advised shipowners and operators to avoid deploying Indian seafarers aboard vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz until further notice. The advisory cited continuing attacks on merchant ships and the deteriorating regional security environment.
