WI Dominate Day 1 as Joseph Rattles Australia
West Indies took firm control on Day 1 of the third Test against Australia at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. The home side bowled out Australia for 225 and ended the day at 16 for 1, with fast bowler Shamar Joseph leading the attack with four key wickets.
Shamar Joseph Leads the Attack
Shamar Joseph was the star performer, picking up 4 wickets for just 33 runs. He dismissed top-order batters Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith, as well as middle-order players Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood. His sharp pace and movement caused consistent problems for the Australians under lights with the pink ball.
Greaves and Seales Keep Pressure On
Joseph was ably supported by Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales, who picked up three wickets each. Greaves dismissed young opener Sam Konstas and crucially broke the partnership between Smith and Green. Seales cleaned up the tail, ensuring Australia were bowled out before they could reach 250.
Australia’s Middle Order Falters
Despite a 61-run partnership between Smith and Green, Australia struggled to build momentum. Both batters fell just short of half-centuries as West Indies capitalised on their aggressive approach with tight bowling and sharp fielding.
West Indies Lose Early Wicket
In response, West Indies lost Kevlon Anderson for a duck to Mitchell Starc in the very first over. However, they survived the remaining overs cautiously and reached 16 for 1 at stumps, still trailing by 209 runs.
All Eyes on Day 2
With the ball still doing plenty under lights, Day 2 could prove decisive. If West Indies can post a strong first-innings total, they will put significant pressure on Australia in this series decider.
