WHO Rejects Trump’s Autism Claims Over Vaccines & Tylenol
The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that current scientific evidence does not support claims that vaccines cause autism or that use of paracetamol (Tylenol) during pregnancy definitively leads to autism.
Trump’s Remarks on Autism
U.S. President Donald Trump recently linked autism to childhood vaccines and prenatal paracetamol use. Experts and public health agencies say these claims are not proven and warn against drawing causal conclusions.
WHO’s Clarification
WHO emphasized that vaccines are safe and that the evidence regarding paracetamol in pregnancy remains “inconsistent.” The organization urged that pregnant women follow medical advice when considering any medication.
Scientific Studies Contradict Claims
In the United Kingdom, Health Secretary Wes Streeting rejected the claims, citing a large 2024 Swedish study involving 2.4 million children which found no link between paracetamol taken during pregnancy and autism.
