White House Launches TikTok Account Featuring Trump’s “I Am Your Voice” Message

The White House has officially launched an account on the popular video platform TikTok, despite ongoing legal and security concerns surrounding the app. In its first post, President Trump’s voice-over declares, “I am your voice,” with the caption, “America, we are BACK! What’s up TikTok?” The launch reflects a strategic shift toward engaging more directly with TikTok’s estimated 170 million U.S. users.

Reversing Previous Opposition

This move marks a notable reversal for Trump, who previously attempted to ban the app over national security fears due to its Chinese ownership. He initially signed orders targeting the platform, but subsequent campaigns turned TikTok into a key outreach tool—especially among younger voters—with over 15 million users following his campaign account.

Deadline for Sale or Ban Still Looms

At the same time, the law requiring ByteDance to either sell TikTok’s U.S. operations or face a ban remains on the books. That deadline has been extended multiple times—most recently pushed to mid-September—allowing the app to continue operating while negotiations unfold.
