Weber Wins Maiden Diamond League Title As Neeraj Chopra Finishes Second

Germany’s Julian Weber captured his first-ever Diamond League title in men’s javelin during the finals in Zurich, throwing an outstanding 91.51 m to secure victory. India’s Neeraj Chopra claimed second place with a best effort of 85.01 m in his final throw, while Keshorn Walcott took third with 84.95 m.

Chopra’s Late Surge

Chopra found himself in third place for much of the competition, starting with an opening throw of 84.35 m. After three fouls, his final attempt of 85.01 m vaulted him into second place ahead of Walcott.

Season Context And Rivalry

This marks Chopra’s third straight runner-up finish in the Diamond League Final—he last won in 2022. Weber, meanwhile, not only delivered a dominant performance in Zurich but also took the head-to-head lead this season, now leading Chopra 3-1. Despite this, Chopra still holds a strong overall edge with 15 victories to Weber’s 5.
