Washington Sundar’s 7-Wicket Haul Stuns New Zealand in Pune Test
Washington Sundar delivered a career-best performance, taking 7 wickets for 59 runs on the opening day of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Pune.
His brilliant spin bowling helped bowl out New Zealand for 259, putting India in a commanding position. Sundar, who had been on the sidelines due to the dominance of other spinners, seized his opportunity to shine, turning the match around with his remarkable bowling.
India’s Strategic Changes Pay Off
India made three key changes for the match, bringing in Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, and Akash Deep, replacing Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Siraj. Sundar, who made his Test debut in 2021, has played only five Test matches but made an emphatic return to the team with his stunning spell.
New Zealand started strong with Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65) adding stability. After winning the toss, the Kiwis looked set to post a competitive total.
