Vinod Khosla Says IT Services May Decline By 2030
Venture capitalist Vinod Khosla has said traditional IT services work could decline significantly by the end of the decade as artificial intelligence automates routine software and support functions across industries.
Vinod Khosla IT Services Prediction
Khosla stated that advances in AI systems capable of writing code, testing software and managing operations may reduce demand for repetitive outsourcing work. He said automation tools are improving rapidly and businesses are increasingly shifting toward AI-driven solutions rather than manual service processes.
Impact On Indian IT Industry
India’s IT sector, which has long relied on global service contracts, may need to adapt by focusing on product development and higher-value engineering roles. Analysts note companies are already investing in cloud platforms, AI integration and consulting services to move beyond labour-intensive models.
Shift Toward AI Product Development
Khosla suggested future growth will come from building proprietary technologies, platforms and specialised expertise rather than large-scale support operations. The shift is expected to create new roles in AI engineering, data systems and advanced software design even as routine tasks decline.
