Vijayabaskar Resigns As Tamil Nadu MLA

Former Tamil Nadu Health Minister and AIADMK leader C. Vijayabaskar has resigned as MLA from the Viralimalai constituency, adding to the political uncertainty surrounding the party. His resignation was submitted to Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar and was later accepted.

C Vijayabaskar Resigns As MLA

Vijayabaskar, a senior AIADMK leader and former minister, represented Viralimalai in Pudukkottai district. His resignation from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly comes at a time when the party is facing internal pressure and a series of exits.

The resignation has drawn attention because Vijayabaskar was among the prominent AIADMK leaders who had served in key ministerial roles during earlier party-led governments. The reason for his decision has not been officially explained.

AIADMK Faces Fresh Political Uncertainty

The development comes amid continuing turbulence within the AIADMK. The party has seen multiple resignations and internal differences in recent months, weakening its position in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Reports said Vijayabaskar was among AIADMK rebel MLAs who had voted in favour of the TVK government during a trust vote held in the Assembly on May 13. His exit is being seen as another setback for the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led party.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Strength Changes

With Vijayabaskar’s resignation accepted, the AIADMK’s strength in the Assembly has fallen further. The move may also trigger political speculation over whether he could join another party or align with a rival faction.

The resignation is expected to intensify debate around the AIADMK’s internal stability and its future strategy in Tamil Nadu politics.
