Vijay Was Offered 90 Seats, Claims TVK Leader

Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay was offered 90 Assembly seats and the Chief Minister’s post for two-and-a-half years, senior party functionary Aadhav Arjuna claimed on Tuesday, adding a fresh layer of intrigue to Tamil Nadu’s pre-election political churn. The remarks have intensified speculation over possible alliance efforts around the 2026 Assembly election, even though TVK has continued to insist that it plans to contest alone.

Aadhav Arjuna Claims Vijay Got Major Offer

Aadhav Arjuna, TVK’s general secretary for election campaign management, said Vijay had been offered 90 seats and a rotational Chief Minister arrangement for 2.5 years, but refused the proposal. He did not name the parties that allegedly made the offer, though the statement has fuelled fresh speculation over backchannel alliance talks involving major political players in Tamil Nadu. His remarks are politically significant because they come at a time when parties are actively testing possible combinations ahead of the election.

TVK Repeats Plan To Contest All 234 Seats

Alongside the claim, Aadhav said TVK would contest all 234 Assembly constituencies without forming an alliance. He said Vijay had rejected the offer because he wanted to build the party strongly enough to deliver a government based on secularism and social justice. The statement appears aimed at reinforcing TVK’s message that it wants to emerge as an independent political force rather than as a junior partner in a larger coalition.

Vijay Political Strategy Draws More Attention

The comments have also increased attention on Vijay’s long-term political positioning in Tamil Nadu. TVK has been trying to project itself as a serious alternative in a state dominated for decades by the DMK and AIADMK. With election season approaching, every signal about possible alliances, leadership ambitions and seat-sharing formulas is drawing sharp scrutiny. Aadhav’s latest remarks are therefore likely to keep speculation alive over whether major parties have already begun informal outreach to Vijay’s camp.
