Vijay Takes Aim at “Dynastic Family,” DMK Dismisses Corruption Allegations
Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK during his first public rally in Villupuram.
Without directly naming the party, Vijay accused a “dynastic family” of looting the state through corruption and underground dealings. The DMK swiftly refuted these claims, asserting that there is no proven case of corruption against them.
Vijay’s Criticism of DMK and BJP
In his fiery speech, Vijay took veiled digs at both the DMK and the BJP, criticizing their approach to governance and politics. He accused the DMK of creating divisiveness by fostering fear among Tamil Nadu’s communities and questioned the party’s self-proclaimed “Dravidian model.”
“They create a fear of majority and minority amongst people of Tamil Nadu who live in harmony and unity. If you accuse them (BJP) of fascism, then are you (DMK) ‘payasam’ (sweet dish)?” Vijay remarked, questioning the integrity of both parties.
TVK’s Stand Against Divisiveness and Corruption
Vijay made it clear that the TVK’s primary enemies were parties promoting divisive ideologies and corruption. He emphasized that his party stood for unity, with both Dravidian and Tamil nationalism playing a crucial role in Tamil Nadu’s identity. Criticizing the normalization of corruption, Vijay called for its complete eradication.
Plans for 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
Confident in his party’s prospects for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vijay stated that TVK could achieve a majority. He also left the door open for potential alliances, stating his willingness to share power if necessary. “If anyone wants to join us in an alliance, we should welcome them. We will share power with them too,” he said, signaling a pragmatic approach to coalition politics.
