Vijay Promises Free LPG, Doles and Gold
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay unveiled a welfare-heavy election manifesto in Chennai, promising a wide range of benefits aimed at women, youth and low-income families. The announcement places his party firmly in the competitive welfare politics space already dominated by the major Dravidian parties ahead of the Tamil Nadu political battle.

Vijay said his party’s manifesto was designed around promises it could realistically deliver, while also claiming that TVK was politically different from both the DMK and the AIADMK. Even so, the document followed a familiar Tamil Nadu election pattern by offering direct household benefits and targeted financial support to key voter groups.
Free LPG Cylinders and Free Power Promise
Among the headline promises were six free LPG cylinders a year for every family and 200 units of free electricity for all households. These announcements are likely to be among the most discussed parts of the manifesto because they directly address household expenses at a time when inflation and living costs remain politically sensitive issues.
Women Doles, Education Loans and Marriage Gold
The manifesto also promised Rs 2,500 per month for women below 60 years of age, Rs 25 lakh health insurance cover for families and one sovereign of gold along with a silk saree for poor women at the time of marriage. For students and youth, Vijay offered collateral-free education loans, Rs 4,000 monthly assistance for unemployed graduates, Rs 2,000 for diploma holders and financial support for entrepreneurs and women’s self-help groups.
Kamarajar Schools and Youth Welfare Measures
In the education sector, TVK promised to establish 100 Kamarajar schools of excellence. Vijay also proposed collateral-free loans for young entrepreneurs and interest-free loans for women’s self-help groups. The manifesto shows a clear attempt to build support among first-time voters, women and lower-income households through a broad welfare and opportunity package.
