Vijay Holds First Rally Since Karur Stampede

Actor and TVK leader Vijay held a public rally in Puducherry, his first major event since the deadly stampede in Karur earlier this year. Authorities imposed strict rules, limiting the crowd to 5,000 people. Entry was allowed only through QR-code passes, and barricaded zones were set up to control movement.

Security scare before the event

Just before the rally began, police detained a man carrying a handgun at the venue. He claimed to be part of security staff, but the incident caused concern. Heavy police deployment and additional checks were carried out through the evening to avoid any safety lapses.

Vijay addresses supporters

Vijay arrived at the venue and greeted supporters from his campaign vehicle. He appreciated Puducherry’s administration for crowd management and continued his political messaging. Despite restrictions, a large number of people turned up, indicating continued support for the party.

Background of Karur tragedy

The rally comes after a stampede in Karur at a TVK event in September, where dozens of people lost their lives. That incident brought focus on safety standards at political gatherings. Officials emphasised that future rallies must follow guidelines strictly to prevent a repeat of such tragedies.
