US Warns Iran as Warships Head to Region
U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran to enter talks on a possible nuclear agreement or face military pressure as a group of American warships moves toward the Middle East. Trump said the United States hopes to avoid military action but has “very big, very powerful ships sailing to Iran” to support diplomacy and deter any hostile action.
Military Buildup and Nuclear Demand
The naval force includes the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln along with several destroyers and support ships deployed to the region to strengthen the U.S. military presence near Iran. Trump’s remarks stressed that the fleet is prepared if needed, but talks remain a priority.
Trump also reiterated that the U.S. wants Iran to halt any pursuit of nuclear weapons capability, saying negotiations are preferable to conflict. He expressed hope for renewed diplomatic engagement with Tehran.
Iran and Regional Tensions
Iran has responded to growing pressure by insisting it is ready to defend itself and has indicated openness to dialogue if external aggression is stopped. The situation follows months of internal unrest in Iran and concerns over its nuclear ambitions, contributing to heightened tensions in the region.
