US-UK Coalition Conducts Airstrikes on Houthi Military Sites in Yemen
In a significant military operation, the US-UK coalition launched 15 airstrikes on key Houthi military sites in Yemen, targeting strategic locations in the capital Sanaa and the northern city of Saada.
The airstrikes, carried out by US and UK warplanes, targeted three Houthi-controlled areas, specifically in Al-Jiraf, Hafa, and Jarban, according to local Yemeni media reports.
Airstrikes Target Houthi Weapons Facilities
The US Central Command confirmed that the operation involved the use of Air Force B-2 Spirit long-range stealth bombers, which were deployed to destroy underground weapons storage facilities controlled by the Houthis. These facilities reportedly contained advanced conventional weapons, which were used by the Houthis to target US and international military and civilian vessels in the region.
While the operation aimed at eliminating critical military infrastructure, there have been no reported casualties as a result of the airstrikes, according to local sources. The coalition’s airstrikes come amidst the ongoing conflict in Yemen, which has seen heightened tensions and international involvement over the years.
Focus on Preventing Attacks on International Vessels
The US-UK coalition’s primary objective was to dismantle the Houthis’ capacity to launch attacks on international military and civilian vessels, particularly in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden regions. These waterways are crucial for global trade, and Houthi attacks have been a growing threat to international shipping and security.
This latest round of airstrikes underscores the coalition’s commitment to neutralizing the Houthi threat and preventing further escalation in the conflict, while also protecting strategic maritime routes.
As the Yemen conflict continues, the international community remains watchful of further developments, with the US and UK playing a leading role in maintaining stability in the region.
