US-UAE trade, AI partnership, Trump Middle East visit
During his recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, US President Donald Trump announced a series of groundbreaking economic and technological agreements exceeding $200 billion. These deals mark a significant milestone in US-UAE relations, covering sectors ranging from aviation to artificial intelligence and energy infrastructure.
Major Aviation Deal Sealed
One of the most prominent agreements included a $14.5 billion purchase order from Etihad Airways for 28 advanced Boeing aircraft, including the 787 Dreamliner and the new 777X series. The aircraft will be powered by GE Aerospace engines, reinforcing longstanding industrial cooperation between the two nations.
This deal not only highlights the UAE’s ambitions to expand its aviation footprint but also strengthens the US aerospace sector with one of its largest orders from the Middle East in recent years.
US-UAE AI Acceleration Framework Launched
In a strategic move towards future technologies, the US and UAE jointly unveiled a new “AI Acceleration Partnership” framework. Central to this initiative is the construction of a massive 5-gigawatt AI campus in Abu Dhabi, which, upon completion, will become the world’s largest AI computing hub outside the United States.
The partnership will also grant the UAE expanded access to advanced US-manufactured AI chips. This comes after previous limitations placed on such exports due to fears of potential tech diversion to rival nations like China. In response, the UAE has pledged to align its national security regulations with US standards to prevent any misuse or unauthorized transfer of sensitive technologies.
Broader Investment and Strategic Commitments
Trump reiterated the UAE’s long-term pledge to invest $1.4 trillion in the US over the next decade, particularly in critical sectors such as artificial intelligence, defense, and renewable energy. The new agreements also include commitments by the UAE to finance or co-develop data center infrastructure in the United States.
Furthermore, Abu Dhabi has agreed to adopt stringent compliance and transparency norms mirroring US security frameworks to ensure mutual trust in tech collaborations.
Strengthening Diplomatic and Economic Ties
President Trump was warmly welcomed by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, where Trump was granted an exclusive tour. Calling it “breathtaking,” Trump noted it was an honor to be hosted in a country that values shared economic growth and global leadership in innovation.
These agreements underscore the deepening partnership between Washington and Abu Dhabi, setting the stage for an ambitious and technologically driven decade of bilateral cooperation.
