US Strikes Iran as Tehran Targets Gulf States
The United States launched another wave of airstrikes against Iranian military infrastructure as Iran fired missiles and drones towards countries hosting American forces. The renewed attacks came as Washington reimposed its blockade on Iranian ports amid escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
US Strikes Iran’s Military Infrastructure
The US Central Command said American forces struck dozens of targets across Iran during a seven-hour military operation. The targets included coastal defence systems, missile and drone facilities and maritime capabilities.
Iran acknowledged that several locations had been attacked but did not immediately provide a full assessment of the damage. Explosions were reported in Bushehr, Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas and parts of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Iranian authorities said more than 260 people were wounded during the latest overnight strikes. The government also reported that over 30 people had been killed during recent days of fighting.
Iran Targets Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan
Iran responded by claiming missile and drone attacks against military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, where American forces are stationed.
Missile alerts were activated in Bahrain and Kuwait, while Jordan said its air defences intercepted three incoming Iranian missiles. Kuwait earlier reported that four naval personnel were injured and a building was set on fire during an Iranian attack.
Iran said the strikes were retaliation for continued US military operations against its territory.
Strait of Hormuz Blockade Resumes
Washington reimposed its blockade on Iranian ports after accusing Tehran of attacking commercial vessels attempting to travel through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned that continued restrictions could lead Tehran to prevent energy exports across the region. The strait remains a crucial route for global oil and natural gas shipments, raising concerns that further escalation could disrupt international energy supplies.
