US Says Sustained Iran Strikes Have Ended
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said Washington is no longer carrying out sustained strikes against Iran, stating that the military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury has concluded after meeting its objectives.
Marco Rubio Says Iran Strikes Are Over
Rubio said the United States was no longer conducting sustained military action against Iran because Operation Epic Fury had ended. He said the campaign had achieved its intended goals, though he did not provide detailed operational specifics.
The statement signals a change in Washington’s military posture after months of confrontation that brought the region close to a wider conflict.
US-Iran Tensions Remain Fragile
Despite Rubio’s statement, tensions in the region remain high. The US and Iran have been involved in a fragile ceasefire process, while incidents in the Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz continue to raise concerns over renewed escalation.
Washington has also continued diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict and pushing Iran toward negotiations on broader security and nuclear issues.
Rubio Defends US Military Action
Rubio has maintained that Iran has been weakened by the conflict, pointing to damage to its military capabilities, air defences and missile infrastructure. He also said any future nuclear understanding with Iran would be submitted to Congress under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act.
The comments suggest that while large-scale US strikes may have stopped, Washington intends to keep military and diplomatic pressure on Tehran as negotiations continue.
