US Says Iran Unable To Pay Soldiers

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has claimed that American economic pressure and maritime restrictions are severely weakening Iran’s government, saying Tehran is struggling to pay its soldiers amid the ongoing blockade.

US Treasury Chief On Iran Blockade

Bessent said the United States was “suffocating” Iran through economic pressure and a blockade affecting ships moving to and from Iranian ports. He said the measures were being enforced across the US government as part of Washington’s pressure campaign.

The remarks came as tensions remain high despite a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

Iran Unable To Pay Soldiers Claim

The US Treasury chief claimed that Iran was facing pressure across its state machinery and was unable to pay its military personnel. He also said Washington was targeting financial networks linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The claims have not been independently verified, and Iran has rejected US pressure as illegal and hostile.

Strait Of Hormuz Tensions Continue

The Strait of Hormuz remains central to the crisis, with both Iran and the United States imposing restrictions on shipping movement. The waterway is one of the world’s most important routes for oil and gas exports.

Bessent said US action would continue until freedom of navigation was restored. The standoff has added pressure to energy markets and deepened uncertainty across West Asia.
