US Embassy Urges Citizens to Leave Pakistan After India Targets Lahore
Following India’s targeted military strike on a Pakistani air defense unit in Lahore, the United States has issued a strong advisory to its citizens currently in Pakistan. The move came shortly after reports confirmed drone explosions and suspected airspace violations around Lahore, sparking panic and triggering emergency protocols.
The US Consulate General in Lahore has instructed all its personnel to take immediate shelter. The Consulate also received initial reports indicating that Pakistani authorities may be evacuating areas near Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, suggesting an anticipated threat or follow-up military action.
Advisory for US Citizens in Pakistan
In a public statement, the US Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan urged American citizens currently located in or around conflict zones to leave if it is safe to do so. “US citizens who find themselves in an area of active conflict should leave if they can do so safely. If it is not safe to leave, they should shelter-in-place,” the advisory read.
The statement reflects the gravity of the evolving security situation in the region following India’s Operation Sindoor and Pakistan’s retaliatory drone and missile attacks. The precision Indian strike on Lahore’s air defense systems is believed to be part of a broader strategy to degrade Pakistan’s aerial combat capabilities after attempted assaults on Indian military installations across Jammu, Kashmir, and Punjab.
Rising Global Concern
The US is among several countries now advising caution or evacuation from Pakistan amid fears of a wider conflict. The international community has intensified its calls for de-escalation, urging both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomatic channels over further military engagement.
