UP Steps Up Services Push for $50 Billion Export Goal
Uttar Pradesh has intensified efforts to expand services exports as part of its plan to reach a USD 50 billion export target and build a USD 1 trillion state economy. The strategy is anchored in the state’s Export Promotion Policy for the 2025–30 period, which seeks to complement merchandise exports with faster growth in services.
Focus on IT and Knowledge Services
State officials said the renewed push will prioritise information technology, IT-enabled services and global capability centres. These segments are expected to generate higher value exports, attract investment and create skilled employment. While goods exports remain significant, the government believes services can deliver quicker gains and improve resilience amid global trade volatility.
Incentives for Services Exporters
Under the policy, eligible services exporters will receive targeted support to improve global market access. Incentives include assistance for participation in international trade fairs, marketing support for overseas outreach, and facilitation through export promotion bodies. The aim is to help firms scale operations, diversify markets and enhance competitiveness.
Role in Broader Economic Vision
The services export push is part of a wider plan to accelerate economic growth and investment across the state. Officials said stronger exports will support job creation, boost foreign exchange earnings and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a national growth engine. The policy also aligns with longer-term goals to expand the state’s economic footprint in the coming decades.
Implementation and Outlook
Authorities said implementation will focus on ease of doing business, faster clearances and closer coordination with industry. With global demand evolving, the state expects services-led exports to play a central role in achieving its ambitious targets.
