UK To Host Strait Of Hormuz Summit

Britain will host an international summit this week aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as global concern grows over maritime disruption in one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the meeting will focus on restoring security and stability in the waterway after the Iran conflict.

UK To Host Strait Of Hormuz Summit

Starmer said the United Kingdom would convene an international diplomatic conference led by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper. The summit is expected to bring together countries involved in discussions over maritime access, trade security and post-war planning in the Gulf.

35 Countries Back Maritime Security Push

According to Starmer, 35 countries have signed a joint statement committing to work together on restoring maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. The move signals a broad international push to protect a route that carries a major share of the world’s oil and gas shipments and remains critical to global energy stability.

Post-War Security Planning Underway

Starmer also said military planners are working on options for security arrangements once the Iran war ends. That suggests Western and allied governments are already preparing for a post-conflict phase in which commercial shipping must be protected and traffic through the strait normalised as quickly as possible.

UK Calls For Diplomatic And Military Coordination

The British prime minister said a united approach combining military strength and diplomatic activity will be needed to restore stability. His remarks underline London’s attempt to position itself as a key coordinator in efforts to secure the strait, prevent further escalation and reassure energy markets.
