UK Seeks Answers From Air India Over Dreamliner

The United Kingdom has sought clarification from Air India after a Boeing 787 Dreamliner experienced a fuel control switch issue, prompting safety scrutiny and technical review of the aircraft systems.

Air India Dreamliner Fuel Switch Incident

UK aviation authorities asked Air India to explain the circumstances under which the aircraft’s fuel control switch problem was identified. The airline confirmed the aircraft was inspected after the irregularity was detected and appropriate technical procedures were initiated.

Air India stated the aircraft was taken for checks as a precaution and no passengers were placed at risk during the event.

Boeing 787 Safety Inspection

Engineers conducted system diagnostics to verify whether the issue was mechanical, electrical or operational. Boeing has been informed and standard coordination between the manufacturer and airline is underway to determine the root cause.

Airlines globally follow strict protocols when cockpit control switches behave unexpectedly, including grounding the aircraft until verification is completed.

Aviation Safety Regulatory Response

UK regulators monitor aircraft operated into their airspace and routinely request reports whenever anomalies occur involving international carriers. Such reviews ensure compliance with global aviation safety standards.

The aircraft is expected to return to service only after technical clearance and regulatory satisfaction regarding operational safety.
