UIDAI Partners with Sarvam AI to Enhance Aadhaar Services

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with Bengaluru-based Sarvam AI to integrate advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology into Aadhaar services. This collaboration aims to enhance user experience by introducing AI-powered voice interactions, real-time fraud detection, and multilingual support, making Aadhaar services more efficient and accessible.

AI-Powered Voice Interactions

As part of the initiative, Sarvam AI will deploy an AI-driven voice interaction system to improve resident engagement. This feature will allow Aadhaar users to provide real-time feedback on their enrollment and update experiences, including instances of overcharging. By utilizing AI, UIDAI aims to make Aadhaar-related interactions more user-friendly and intuitive.

Real-Time Fraud Alerts for Enhanced Security

The partnership will also focus on strengthening security by implementing real-time fraud detection. The AI system will monitor Aadhaar authentication requests and promptly notify users of any suspicious activity, ensuring greater protection against fraudulent access. This proactive approach is expected to bolster security and enhance user confidence in Aadhaar-based transactions.

Multilingual Support for Wider Accessibility

To cater to India’s diverse population, the AI solution will support interactions in ten languages, including Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, and Malayalam. UIDAI plans to expand this linguistic support in the future, ensuring that more people across the country can seamlessly access Aadhaar services in their preferred language.

Commitment to Innovation and Data Security

UIDAI remains committed to improving Aadhaar services through technological advancements. The AI solution will be hosted within UIDAI’s secure infrastructure, ensuring data privacy and sovereignty. The partnership is initially valid for one year, with an option to extend for another year based on its impact and success.

Developing AI for Public Benefit

The AI-driven solution was developed under UIDAI’s volunteer policy, enabling collaboration between industry experts and UIDAI’s Technology Centre. Ownership of the solution rests with UIDAI, aligning it with the organization’s long-term operational goals.

With this initiative, UIDAI continues to innovate and improve the ease of accessing Aadhaar services. The integration of AI-based voice interactions, fraud detection, and multilingual support marks a significant step toward making Aadhaar more secure, user-friendly, and accessible for millions of citizens.
