UAE President Joins US ‘Board of Peace’

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald J. Trump to join the newly formed “Board of Peace,” a global initiative launched to support peace and reconstruction efforts, starting with Gaza and possibly broadening to other conflicts.

What UAE Said

The UAE’s foreign ministry said the country is ready to actively support the board’s mission to promote cooperation, stability and prosperity. Officials linked the move to backing Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza and emphasised the UAE’s commitment to peace efforts and international cooperation.

About the Board

The Board of Peace is intended to bring together world leaders to help oversee post-conflict peacebuilding, beginning with Gaza’s fragile situation. The initiative has drawn mixed international reactions, with some countries expressing interest and others raising concerns about its structure, scope and implications for existing global institutions.

Regional and Global Context

The UAE has historically played a role in Middle East diplomacy and was a key party to the Abraham Accords normalising relations with Israel in 2020. Its participation in the Board of Peace adds to its engagement in international peace efforts, even as the initiative itself remains under discussion among global partners.
