UAE Launches Nomination-Based Golden Visa for Indians at ₹23 Lakh
The United Arab Emirates has launched a pilot Golden Visa programme specifically for Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, offering a path to long-term residency without the traditional requirements of property ownership or a business license. The initiative allows applicants to receive a UAE Golden Visa through a nomination process, with a one-time fee of AED 100,000, approximately ₹23.3 lakh.
Simplified and Inclusive Application Process
Unlike previous Golden Visa routes that demanded investments of AED 2 million or more in real estate or businesses, this nomination-based model is designed to attract high-value individuals without tying the visa to financial assets. Applicants are selected through a vetting process that includes checks on criminal history, anti-money laundering compliance, and even online behavior. Nominees must demonstrate contributions or potential in fields such as technology, science, entrepreneurship, education, arts, or culture. Applications can be submitted through authorized centers including One VASCO and VFS Global branches in major Indian cities.
Key Benefits for Indian Professionals and Families
This visa grants long-term residency to the applicant, their immediate family, and domestic staff. It also allows recipients to work or run businesses in the UAE. The programme is ideal for professionals, entrepreneurs, content creators, and academics who want permanent access to the UAE’s business and innovation ecosystem without committing large sums to physical investments.
Strengthening India-UAE Migration Ties
The move highlights the evolving India–UAE strategic relationship, especially after the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2022. Over 5,000 Indian applicants are anticipated in the initial phase. The programme could later be extended to citizens of other countries with similar trade ties to the UAE. By shifting focus from capital-based migration to talent-based selection, the UAE positions itself as a forward-looking hub for global professionals.
A Gateway for Indian Talent Mobility
This new model redefines long-term migration for Indian citizens by lowering financial barriers and broadening eligibility. It marks a significant departure from the UAE’s traditional approach and could serve as a blueprint for future visa systems in the Gulf and beyond. With simplified access and no investment strings attached, the nomination-based Golden Visa opens up new global mobility possibilities for India’s educated, entrepreneurial, and aspirational workforce.
