UAE Intercepts Missiles And Drones In New Barrage
Title: UAE Intercepts Missiles And Drones In New Barrage
The United Arab Emirates said Iran launched a fresh wave of ballistic missiles and drones on Sunday, marking another escalation in the widening Gulf conflict. Emirati authorities said the attacks were largely intercepted, though some drone debris fell inside the country.
UAE Says Iran Fired 16 Ballistic Missiles
The UAE’s Defence Ministry said 17 ballistic missiles were detected during the latest barrage. Of these, 16 were intercepted and destroyed by Emirati air defences, while one missile fell into the sea before reaching land.
The ministry said the interceptions were part of ongoing efforts to protect the country’s airspace as regional attacks continue to intensify. Officials did not specify which parts of the UAE were targeted in Sunday’s strike wave.
More Than 117 Drones Detected Over UAE
Alongside the missile barrage, the UAE said a total of 117 drones were detected during the latest attack. According to the official update, 113 drones were intercepted, while four fell within UAE territory.
The incident highlights the scale of the aerial threat now confronting Gulf states as missile and drone attacks become more frequent. Authorities have not publicly detailed whether the drones caused damage after falling inside the country.
UAE Signals Stronger Response To Regional Threats
The Emirati defence ministry said the country is prepared to firmly confront threats to its territory and infrastructure. The latest barrage came after Iran’s president warned that attacks on US-linked targets in the region could intensify in response to ongoing US and Israeli strikes.
The UAE statement did not identify specific locations targeted in the latest attack wave, but the development adds to rising pressure on Gulf air defence systems and regional security networks. With the conflict spreading beyond direct battlefield zones, countries across the Gulf remain on high alert.
