UAE Bans Travel To Mali, Urges Citizens To Return

The United Arab Emirates has imposed a travel ban on Mali and has asked all Emirati citizens currently in the country to return home immediately. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the advisory and said the decision was taken due to rising security concerns.

Advisory Issued With Immediate Effect

The ministry said the ban applies with immediate effect. Citizens were asked to avoid travel to Mali under any circumstances. Those already in the country have been advised to leave at the earliest and stay in touch with UAE authorities during their travel. An emergency helpline has been activated to assist travellers and families.

Officials said citizens should exercise caution and follow updates issued by the UAE government. Companies with staff in Mali have also been advised to review safety protocols and suspend non-essential travel.

Security Concerns Behind The Move

Although the ministry did not list specific threats, the advisory comes amid ongoing instability in several parts of Mali. Violence and political tensions in recent months have prompted many governments to revise travel recommendations for the region.

The UAE said the situation will continue to be monitored and travel advice may be updated depending on developments on the ground.
