U.S. Role Overlooked at Beijing WWII Parade, Says Trump

President Donald Trump has criticized China for failing to acknowledge the role of the United States in World War II during a large commemorative ceremony in Beijing. While he praised the event as “beautiful” and “very, very impressive,” he said the omission was disappointing.

Trump’s Remarks on the Ceremony

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the ceremony, led by Chinese President Xi Jinping, displayed great precision and scale. However, he argued that China should have mentioned America’s contribution, especially considering the support the U.S. provided to Chinese forces during the war.

U.S. Role in World War II

Trump reminded that the United States entered the war after 1941 and provided both military and financial aid that proved decisive in defeating Japan. American forces, working alongside allies, played a key role in liberating territories in Asia and eventually forcing Japan’s surrender in 1945.

Global Leaders in Attendance

The parade in Beijing marked the 80th anniversary of Japan’s surrender and showcased China’s military strength. Leaders in attendance included Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump later suggested that the absence of U.S. recognition at the event carried geopolitical undertones, adding to existing tensions between Washington and Beijing.
