U.S. Blocks Afghan FM Visit to Pakistan Over Travel Ban

The United States has reportedly stopped Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, from travelling to Pakistan in August by refusing a travel exemption. Muttaqi is subject to international travel restrictions due to his role in the Taliban leadership. The decision blocked a planned diplomatic visit aimed at improving ties between Kabul and Islamabad.

Concerns Over Regional Alliances

Analysts suggest the refusal may be linked to concerns about the growing closeness between the Taliban government and China. This reflects wider geopolitical tensions in the region.

Pakistan Points to Procedural Delays

Pakistan’s foreign office described the matter as a procedural delay rather than a political issue. Officials said they are working to resolve the problem and expect the visit to take place once formalities are cleared.
