Typhoon Ragasa Hits Taiwan, Hong Kong

At least 14 people have died in eastern Taiwan after a barrier lake burst its banks during severe rains tied to Super Typhoon Ragasa. Around 124 are missing, according to local authorities. The flooding heavily affected Guangfu township in Hualien County, washing away roads and property.

Hong Kong Braces for Impact

As Ragasa moves further northwest, it has already lashed Hong Kong with heavy rain and storm surges. Coastal areas are flooded, and authorities have issued high-level typhoon warnings.

China Prepares Evacuations

Southern China is mobilizing for the typhoon’s arrival. Massive evacuations are underway, especially in Guangdong province, and agencies are preparing for flooding, wind damage, and infrastructure disruption.

What is Ragasa

Ragasa has reached super typhoon status, with powerful winds and rainmaking it one of the strongest storms of 2025. Its path is projected to bring it directly toward China’s southern coast, where dense population centers lie in the storm’s forecast zone.
