Two Terrorists Killed in Udhampur Encounter
Two terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after suspicious movement was detected in the Majalta area. The joint counter-terrorism operation, involving the Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police, remained underway as forces searched for any additional militants.

Security forces detected suspicious movement late on Wednesday and launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Majalta-Brattal area of Udhampur.
Officials said the militants opened fire after being challenged, triggering an exchange of gunfire. Two terrorists were killed during the encounter.
Their identities and organisational affiliations were still being established. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Army, CRPF and J&K Police Continue Operation
The operation involved troops from the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force.
Security forces carried out the operation despite difficult terrain, poor visibility and adverse weather conditions. Reinforcements were deployed after contact was established with the militants.
The cordon around the area was subsequently strengthened, while search and surveillance operations continued to determine whether additional terrorists were hiding nearby.
Security Tightened Across Udhampur Region
Authorities have intensified combing operations using aerial surveillance and sniffer dogs across sensitive areas of the Udhampur-Reasi belt.
Security agencies have maintained an increased focus on the hilly regions of Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Kathua, Poonch and Rajouri following reports of terrorist movement through difficult forested terrain.
The latest encounter comes amid heightened counter-terrorism operations across the wider Pir Panjal region.
