Two Terrorists Killed in Poonch After Pahalgam Operation

Security forces on Tuesday shot dead two terrorists near the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter took place after troops observed suspicious movement along the border fence early in the morning. A brief gunfight followed, resulting in the elimination of both infiltrators.

Initial reports indicate that the terrorists were attempting to cross into Indian territory and were carrying weapons and other supplies. Officials believe the duo was associated with a Pakistan-based terror group and intended to carry out attacks within the region.

Comes Days After Pahalgam Killers Were Neutralized

This fresh encounter comes just two days after three terrorists linked to the April 22 Pahalgam attack were killed in a separate operation near Srinagar. That attack had targeted Indian civilians, killing 26 tourists in Baisaran Valley. The three killed in that operation—Suleiman alias Jatt, Hamza Afghani, and Zibran—were confirmed Pakistani nationals.

According to officials, weapons recovered from the site matched those used in the Pahalgam massacre. Ballistic reports, along with items like Pakistani voter ID cards and food packaging, were presented as evidence to confirm their origin and involvement.

Government Stands Firm on Security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have reiterated that India will not tolerate cross-border terrorism. The back-to-back operations are being presented as a strong message to terror groups and their handlers across the border.

Political leaders across party lines, including members of the opposition, have supported the security forces and praised the quick response. The focus now remains on heightened surveillance along infiltration-prone stretches and swift action against any emerging threats.

Ongoing Vigil in Sensitive Areas

With the monsoon season often used by terrorists for infiltration due to poor visibility and difficult terrain, the armed forces remain on high alert. Multiple intelligence agencies are working in coordination to prevent any further attacks.
