Two terrorists were killed in a joint counter-terrorism operation by security forces in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Wednesday, officials said.

The operation, codenamed Operation Kiya, was carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and central security forces following specific intelligence inputs about terrorist movement in the forested region. Security personnel established contact with the militants, leading to an exchange of fire.

Both terrorists were neutralised during the encounter. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the site, indicating the militants were preparing for further activities. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting searches to rule out the presence of any remaining threats.
